Art Rescue
(coming soon!)
Handmade deserves another life.
Fiber art is slow art. Every embroidered flower, crocheted edge, woven detail, and carefully placed stitch represents someone’s time, attention, and creativity.
When I find handmade fiber art in thrift stores, I can’t help but imagine the hours behind it. The maker’s name may have been lost along the way, but the care in their work is still visible. These pieces deserve more than a brief stop on their way to a landfill.
Art Rescue is my way of honoring that work. I collect overlooked fiber art and offer it a new home where it can be displayed, used, and appreciated again.
What Makes a Piece "Rescued"?
Art Rescue pieces are secondhand works discovered in thrift stores, estate sales, and other unexpected places. They may include embroidery, crochet, needlepoint, weaving, quilting, and other forms of fiber art.
Each Piece is:
- Selected individually for its craftsmanship or character
- Inspected and photographed with any visible imperfections noted
- Clearly identified as rescued art rather than an original Twelfth House creation. Whenever a maker’s name, signature, or history is available, I will share it. When the artist is unknown, their work will be credited simply and respectfully as the creation of an unknown maker.
These pieces have already lived a life before reaching Twelfth House. Some may be beautifully preserved, while others carry small signs of their history. I believe those traces are part of what makes rescued art special. Choosing a rescued piece keeps handmade work in circulation, honors the labor behind it, and creates space for another overlooked treasure to be saved.
Thank you for helping give these stitches another chapter.
